Where Fault Lies I

The current single railroad track between Raymer and Chase Street was built in the early 1900’s. From that time up until 1993, no one was aware that Northridge, California is situated directly on top of an active earthquake fault line. All of that changed in the early hours of January 17, 1994, when the Northridge Earthquake struck with massive force.

Of course, over twenty years later, everyone is now perfectly aware that Northridge sits on an active fault line and a repetition of what happened in 1994 could happen again at any time.

Since Metro and Metrolink are well aware that our community is living on top of an earthquake fault, this is yet ANOTHER reason that building a new Track Shift as well as a second railroad track even CLOSER directly behind residential properties is callous, misanthropic, inhumane, and foolish.
